Friends Forever
This was spawned from an idea I had based off of a song I used in an old Ronin fanfic called Graduation Day (Friends Forever.)[Edit: I think now it was Vitamin C, if I remember correctly.] Darned if I remember who sang it, but I remembered the feel of the song and it is appropriate to the relationship, cannon, fannon or what not, between X and Zero. No matter what, they'll always be friends forever. It was my first delve into more yaoi than shonen-ai with more description but tastefully done. I can write down and out dirty pr0n if I have to, but I prefer to be more tactful in what I write. I think this was posted on the rockman_yaoi LJ Comm. but I could always be wrong . . .

Disclaimer - I don't own them, just borrowing them for a bit of torture. Bad ideas always happen when you can't write them down >evil grin<

X sighed as he leaned back, scrubbing at his face. He had been over and over the reports for hours, not moving except to shuffle through a new stack. Something here had to match, some indication of what he hoped would never happen, but knew would eventually come to pass. Sigma would return. But, this latest case of Mavericks didn't seem to follow the general pattern. Then again, Sigma was one to adapt.

He stretched a shoulder, moving it in a circle, listening to the cybernetic joints pop and snap. He might not be flesh and blood, but even Reploids could feel the strain of being in one position too long.

He slumped forward and rested his chin on one hand, staring at the pictures the Hunters had brought back. He closed his eyes, running over and over what he had already viewed, trying to find some sense in this.

X jumped when something took him by the shoulders, kneading gently. He wanted to sink into that soft touch, but he knew that no one had access to his quarters except for himself . . . and one other.

"You look stressed," Zero said, "give it a rest."

"I can't," X said as he closed his eyes, letting his friend work out a few of the kinks, "if this means that Sigma is back, then we have to do something now before it blows out of proportion."

"What if it's not him but someone else?" Zero asked.

X was forced to smile when one hand snaked up the back of his neck, kneading firmly yet softly. For a fighter, Zero did have a gentle touch. "No matter who it is, we have to stop this."

"I agree," Zero said, "but it's not going to do you any good if you stay this stressed."

X sighed softly as he tilted his head back to look at Zero, a sad expression on his face.

"Rest," he said, "one night isn't going to make a difference."

"To me it will," X said softly.

"I know how you feel about this," Zero said, "but sometimes one person, even a Reploid, can't handle things on their own. They need help."

X sighed and looked back down to the pictures before closing his eyes. Zero's kneading had gone lower, as far as he could reach around the chair back.

"Ok," Zero said, "I know your muscles are supposed to feel hard, but this is ridiculous. Which means I'm going to have to do something about it."

X furrowed a brow as he turned to look at Zero. "What do you mean?"

"Up," Zero said, "and no arguments."

X complied, wondering what was going on in Zero's head.

"Now, march it to your bed," Zero said, pointing.

"But-"

"-I thought I told you no arguments," Zero said, a slight growl to his voice.

The tone of Zero's voice froze X. He had never heard him so angry at him before. The only time he had heard that tone was when Zero was addressing Mavericks. He walked to his bedroom and stood beside the bed, silent, almost frightened of Zero now.

"Strip out of your shirt and lay down on your stomach," Zero said with a tone that brooked no resistance.

X removed his shirt, setting it aside before he laid down, shifting to gaze behind him at Zero.

Zero walked over and knelt on the side of the bed, leaning over X. X turned back, laying flat when he felt Zero's hands on him, kneading once more on his sore and tired back.

"Now," Zero said softer, "I order you to relax and get some sleep."

X closed his eyes at the soft touches. It felt so good, but at the same time he wondered why Zero would be so insistent on rubbing his back. Sore backs were nothing new to Hunters, nor aches or pains. A good nights rest in one of the recharge capsules worked wonders. Only that X hadn't been to his capsule in days, recharging only when he needed to, sleeping on the bed he had brought in at the questioning looks of the other Hunters, except for Zero who had only acknowledged it as some fancy X had gotten into his head. They didn't understand and never would, so he never bothered telling them why.

X sighed softly as he felt Zero's hands work all over his body. From his shoulders down to the base of his spine, over to his ribs and back in again. No part left untouched. "Feels good," he murmured quietly.

"Good," Zero said, "at least you're starting to relax."

X nodded some. He was tired, but he had refused to yield to that fatigue, letting his desire to find out what was going on fuel him a bit longer. He was so lulled he never realized that the touches had become softer, more a caress that grazed his thigh before moving up to gently knead his neck, slender fingers toying with the ends of his hair. He never realized that soft fingers were caressing his cheek now, feather light touches that tickled as much as it brought forth a warmth in him. Fingers that brushed over his lips before pulling back.

X opened his eyes, a slight furrow to his brow. He shifted to look at Zero who simply sat there, his expression unreadable.

"Sorry," Zero said simply.

"It's ok," X said, "I . . . didn't mind."

"Well, you seem to be relaxing," Zero said as he rose, "so I'll leave you alone now."

X started to protest then fell silent when Zero turned and walked away, closing the door silently behind him. He sat, his gaze still on the door before he slowly put his hand up to his cheek. A cheek that Zero had touched. He rose and opened the door, but Zero was already gone. With a soft curse he closed the door and flopped back down on the bed, staring at the ceiling. His legs draped over the side, but he didn't care. The warmth running through him at the thought of what Zero had done cancelled anything else.

Absently he found himself running a hand down his thigh before he shifted and rose. He left his work room turned bedroom and returned to his desk, sitting. He stared blankly at the pictures there and sighed. He closed his eyes, tilting his head back, remembering the feel of Zero's hands on his shoulders and how good it felt, a soft smile gracing his lips. Absently he began to run his hand over a particular warm spot between his legs. He shifted back in the chair, touching himself through his pants. A soft moan escaped him as he pressed harder, lips slightly parted, breathing becoming quicker. He could feel the heat spreading, filling him. But it was an empty fill.

By the time he registered the door was opening, he had all he could do to sit straight and pretend to be studying the pictures.

"I came back because I forgot to tell you that Signas wants us at a briefing bright and early tomorrow morning," Zero said, "I never expected to see you back at this again after I told you to rest."

"I'm sorry," X said, his voice odd sounding.

"Your cheeks are pink," Zero said as he walked over and laid a hand on X's shoulder, "and your skin is warm. Don't tell me you're coming down with a virus?"

"No," X said, "it's not that."

"Come on," Zero said as he hauled X to his feet, the smaller Hunter letting out an indignant squeak, "to bed you go."

"I'm ok," X started to protest, only to be dragged along by Zero. He debated yanking on the mass of blonde hair that trailed behind Zero, but he knew that the crimson Hunter prided his hair and would kill anyone who would damage it.

"Now, get ready for bed," Zero said. When X didn't move he crossed his arms. "Or am I going to have to undress you?"

X blushed hard as he turned, unbuttoning his pants and slipping out of them. He made sure to keep his back to Zero, not letting him see his budding arousal from his touches earlier. He sat, quickly laying down and covering up. "There, happy?" he asked somewhat sharply.

"I'm only trying to make sure you don't kill yourself with overwork. I know you haven't recharged properly in far too long. I know you've been working yourself ragged," Zero said, "and I don't like it."

X only sighed and closed his eyes, rubbing his temples.

"I care about what happens to you," Zero said softer, "I hate to see you abuse yourself like this."

"I'm not," X said.

This time Zero sighed. "Look, I know you. We've been friends for how long? You put every ounce of your being into projects like this. I mean, come on, how tense were you? How long has it been since you've properly recharged?"

X said nothing as he looked away.

"Damn it X," Zero swore softly moving over to the bed, sitting down without permission, "I don't want to see you kill yourself over this. There are enough veteran Hunters who can handle this."

"I know," X said softly, his gaze still not on Zero. He closed his eyes when he felt slender fingers caressing his shoulder, the heat building in him more.

"I care about you," Zero said softly.

X was forced to smile faintly, sadly, as he felt that touch ghost over his cheeks again, a tender touch.

"This hurts me to see you treating yourself like that," Zero said, his voice soft.

"I'm sorry," X said softly, "I didn't realize . . . "

"I know you didn't," Zero said, "which is why I'm here to keep an eye out on you to make sure you don't overwork yourself."

X smiled as the fingers began to run through his hair, toying with it.

"Thanks," X said with a smile as he opened his eyes to look at Zero.

"You're welcome," the crimson Hunter said, a warm smile on his own face.

X only smiled in answer.

But suddenly Zero's expression became serious, worrying X. "If you want to kick me out, I'll understand," Zero said suddenly, his voice sounding unsure as he drew his hand back, "but I have a small confession to make."

"I'd never kick you out," X said, "we're friends."

"For this, you might," Zero said.

X shifted, sitting, taking Zero's hand in his even as Zero brought his other hand around to cup X's cheek. "I think I understand," he said with a smile before kissing Zero's hand.

"You do?" Zero asked.

X nodded. "I could tell when you came in earlier. I could tell by your touches."

Zero chuckled weakly. "I was that obvious?"

X reached over with his hand to softly touch Zero's cheek, running his fingers through the few strands of blonde that had slipped over his shoulder. "Quite."

Zero chuckled weakly again, tilting his head against the touch, eyes closing.

"I think we've been friends for so long we never realized how deep that friendship had gotten," X said as he slowly drew Zero's face closer to him, the crimson Hunter's eyes opening slowly, "or how much it really meant to either of us."

"I figured you'd hate me if you found out I had dreamed of you being more than a friend to me," Zero said softly, their lips almost touching.

"I thought you were being so kind lately out of pity," X said, admitting part of his fears, "but today, I knew it had to be more."

Zero smiled, his gaze soft. "This relationship can be whatever you want from it," he said, "it's your call."

X returned the smile and leaned ahead, kissing Zero softly on the lips. He kept the kiss chaste, fingers winding into long, blonde locks to hold Zero into the kiss. His own eyes closed slowly when Zero's did. He felt Zero draw him into a firm embrace and he smiled into the kiss. The warmth returned, filling him completely, but not making him quite complete, not until they had sealed this relationship.

Zero broke the kiss, though one hand still rested on the back of X's head. "Thank you," he said softly.

"No," X said, fingers absently toying with the wide band Zero used to keep his hair back, "thank you. For caring about me."

"I do care about you deeply," Zero said, "or why do you think I keep pestering you?"

X said nothing as he leaned forward and kissed Zero again, harder, this time, with more need behind it. He was partly surprised when that need was echoed in Zero's kiss. He broke the kiss suddenly, resting his forehead against Zero's, staring him straight in the eyes. "Please," he whispered, his voice somewhat strained by the feelings flooding through him, "touch me . . . please . . . "

Shifting only his arm, his own gaze locked on X's, Zero reached around the cover.

X gasped, more a cry as he burrowed his face into Zero's neck, holding tight.

"You're already hard," Zero said with a soft chuckle, "you weren't thinking about me right before I came back in, were you?"

"Mhhh," was all X could get out, his body on fire, quivering from Zero's touch.

"Any more and you'll lose it," Zero said as he pulled back before rising.

X sat there, rich emerald eyes darkened by lust, staring at Zero with an unreadable expression. Why would Zero leave him all of a sudden?

"Don't worry," Zero said, reaching out to softly touch X's cheek, "but you have me at a disadvantage."

X furrowed a brow before he realized what Zero meant when he saw Zero strip out of his shirt, setting it aside before slipping out of his boots and pants before pulling the covers back from X and sitting, running a finger absently down X's chest.

X shuddered at the feeling reaching out to caress a soft shoulder, before leaning over to kiss it, licking at a faint scar that trailed from Zero's shoulder down to his chest. "When did you get these?" X asked softly, looking up to Zero.

"Get what?" Zero asked softly, stroking X's hair.

"These scars."

Zero chuckled. "Those? They're marks to show that I'm not always perfect in my form, that I do learn from my mistakes which is why I am as good as I am."

"Why didn't you have them repaired?"

"I wanted them as a reminder of my past failures, so that I never make them again," Zero said, kissing X's hair softly.

X said nothing more
as he continued down, reaching the end of one and trailing his lick lower, finding a pink nub and biting it gently.

Zero sucked in a breath, his fingers tightening around X's hair.

X looked up, licking the nub, watching Zero's reaction. He gently suckled on it before teasing it some more with his tongue before switching to the other and giving it the same amount of attention.

"Gods, X," Zero breathed out, "when did you learn . . . "

"I've dreamed about this for a long time," X said as he eased Zero back so that he rested along the foot of the bed, part of his hair pinned behind him, "I imagined what it would be like if we ever could . . . "

Zero softly stroked X's hair, looking up at him even as X looked down. "X," he said softly, "don't stop."

X smiled softly, placing a kiss on Zero's stomach, looking up at him. He trailed the kisses down, adding a few nips and licks here and there, tracing each and every artificial muscle, every angle and plane that had been sculpted when he had been built. He stopped only when he came to the band of white fabric. Zero had never once taken his gaze from X, and neither had X from Zero. Not even when he shifted down and placed a soft kiss to the cloth covered bulge did he look away. He nipped gently at Zero and faintly smiled when Zero moaned softly, eyes starting to close.

X placed soft kisses and nips along Zero, nuzzling his arousal before reaching up to slide the fabric down, removing it, returning to touch Zero like he was fine porcelain, fragile and breakable, which he knew he wasn't. Zero moaned deeply, fingers winding into X's hair, tugging every so often. He replaced his hand with his mouth, awkward, drawing a hiss of pain from Zero.

"Gently," Zero said, "don't rush. I don't have any plans for the rest of the day."

X said nothing as he slowly and carefully began to suckle on Zero, tasting him, savouring his love, finding new ways to please him. He let one hand cup Zero even as his other hand gently stroked the base.

Zero moaned deeply, fingers winding and unwinding from X's hair. Head now to the side, eyes closed, brows furrowed, lips slightly parted, looking like a fallen angel. But to X he was no fallen angel, just an angel, his guardian angel.

He continued to tease Zero until he felt him shudder beneith him then he pulled back. He crawled back up and tilted Zero's head and kissed him deeply, surprised by the almost feral way Zero kissed back, his eyes dark with desire, but shining with a hidden power. X started to pull back when Zero shifted him, picking him up even as he stood, laying X back in bed, the correct way before laying down on top of him, covering X's smaller body with his own. He kissed X with a deep passion, one that X had a hard time keeping up with. It was almost bruising at times, but X didn't complain. Even when Zero slowly slid down X's body, giving him the same treatment, kissing and nipping to the point of biting, causing X to gasp and arch into the pain, X didn't protest.

X wound his fingers into blonde hair, arching every time Zero bit down on a sensitive nub, lapping at it almost greedily, suckling on X. "Zero," X breathed out.

Zero pulled back, blinking for a moment, seeming a bit lost.

"Is something wrong?" X asked, afraid Zero would leave.

"Nothing," Zero said, but his voice sounded odd, "but if I keep going you're going to lose control."

X couldn't help but think something was wrong. Zero had changed slightly, the fierceness gone as he slid X's underwear off of him, almost tossing them aside.

"You don't happen to have any . . . " Zero began.

"No," X said with a half frown, "I never thought about it."

"This is going to hurt," Zero said, "moreso because technically Reploids aren't supposed to be able to do this."

"I know," X said, "though we were programmed with the full range of human emotions, only a handful were built anatomically correct, the rest," he half shrugged.

"Maybe we should wait," Zero said, "I don't want to hurt you."

"You won't," X said, "I know you would never mean to hurt me."

"Are you sure?" Zero asked.

X smiled softly. "I'll never have any regrets being with you. Never."

Zero's smile was reassuring and X let the taller Hunter shift him, raising his hips off of the bed, sliding a finger into him. X moaned, pressing against the finger. Even when Zero added a second and eventually a third finger X ignored the pain. He knew that Zero would take away the pain if he could, that he would never hurt him intentionally.

X felt a small twinge of loneliness when Zero removed his fingers, but it was soon replaced by a sharp cry when he felt Zero fill him, stretching him more. His body shook and he fought the tear that threatened to fall, even as he heard Zero whispering to him, reassuring him, staying still until his body adjusted.

"X," he heard Zero whisper, whimpering slightly when he felt Zero shift, "X, open your eyes."

Slowly X did, locking emerald to deep sapphire. Zero's face was mere inches from X's, face lined with concern. "If this hurts too much, tell me and I'll stop."

"No," X said, "it's ok. I just didn't realize . . . "

"I know you didn't," Zero said, "that's why I offered to wait."

X looked questioningly at Zero.

"What?" Zero asked with a soft chuckle, "did you think Iris and I never did it?"

"Iris," X said softly, closing his eyes again. He had momentarily forgotten about Zero's love who was taken away from him by a cruel twist of fate, one that had brought Zero to the edge of grief, almost pushing him over. Only X had been there to be the firm shoulder for Zero to lean on until he could get past the pain.

"No," Zero said somewhat forcefully, enough so that X was forced to opened his eyes, "what Iris and I shared is different from what you and I share. I loved her, yes, but she's gone now. But I still have you. You helped me get past her death, showed me I could live again. Please, don't turn away just because of her."

"I don't want to replace her," X said softly.

"You aren't," Zero said, "X . . . if Iris was an issue here, would I have done this? Would I have taken you? No, I wouldn't have. I made the choice. I made the first move. I'm the one who had to move on. And you're the one who helped me."

"Zero," X said softly, reaching up to cup Zero's cheek, a tear sliding down his face.

"X," Zero said, "I love you. Please accept it."

"I do," X said, "I love you too, Zero."

Zero smiled. "Then do you accept my gift to you? No regrets?"

"No regrets," X said softly, tracing Zero's cheek with his fingers.

Zero turned his head, kissing the palm of X's hand. Slowly he moved back and X hissed in pain. Zero nuzzled X's neck, pushing back in slowly as far as he could go.

X arched up, despite the pain, closing his eyes long enough to run through a few programs, selectively killing his nerve centres so he would no longer feel the pain, but could still feel Zero's presence inside of him. Now free of pain he felt his body relax, the tenseness leaving.

"X?" he heard Zero ask.

"I'm ok," X said as he opened his eyes and leaned forward to place a soft, reassuring kiss on Zero's lips.

Zero stilled for a second. "Did you kill your pain centre?"

"Only what I had to," X said, "I can still feel you, but not the pain."

Slowly, without a word, Zero began to move, a steady pace, his thrusts deep, grazing X every time.

X moaned softly, rising to meet Zero's thrusts, hooking his legs clumsily around Zero's lower back, holding him deeper into him.

Zero's deep moans overshadowed X's and he burrowed his face into X's neck, kissing and nipping it softly as he increased his pace.

X softly stroked Zero's back and shoulders, moaning softly, his body shuddering at the sensations. He dragged his blunt nails down Zero's back and received a nip on the collarbone and an arch to his touch, shifting Zero's angle, striking a certain spot in X that caused him to cry out.

"X," Zero said softly against flushed skin.

But X was beyond words as Zero hit that spot with each thrust, sending an almost overload of data into his system. His body began to shake, flooded with artificial warmth.

"My gift," Zero said as he continued to pound gently into X, burying his face into X's neck again.

X could feel Zero shudder, his body tensing and relaxing at such a rate it seemed impossible.

"So close," Zero mumbled.

When X felt a hand graze his arousal he cried out, losing what little control he had left. He found his release, hard, crying out time and time again as Zero continued to pound within him, each an echo of Zero's name.

He barely registered the low growl as Zero tensed, warmth flooding into X, even as his own body continued to pulse softly, nerve endings burning with fire. "X. My precious X," Zero breathed out.

"Zero," X said softly, "my love."

Zero rested himself atop X, once more covering the sapphire Hunter.

X held Zero close, softly stroking his back. "Thank you," he whispered, nuzzling Zero's shoulder.

"No, thank you," Zero said softly, raggedly, "thank you for not turning me away."

"I couldn't," X said, "I never would, no matter what."

"Now will you take a break and rest?" Zero asked with a soft chuckle.

X chuckled as well. "Ok, ok," he said, placing a soft kiss to Zero's shoulder, "I will."

"Good," Zero said, "because if you don't . . . "

X chuckled again. "You'll what?"

Zero paused. "Make mad, passionate love to you," he said finally, chuckling at the end, "no, I'd probably just worry more over you until I make myself sick from lack of care."

"Don't do that on my account," X said.

"I've worried over you as a friend for years, now I can worry over you as a lover," Zero said, "and no arguments."

"Ok," X said with a soft sigh as he felt Zero fall out of him naturally, "I won't argue."

"Good," Zero said, "now, I know you need downtime and I could use some myself. Once we're recharged . . . maybe we can do this again?"

"As many times as you want," X said, "I don't seem to have any plans for the rest of the day either."

Zero smiled before giving X a soft kiss. "Finally, starting to see reason."

"I have a very good reason not to work now," X said with a soft chuckle.

"Rest well, then," Zero said with a soft sigh.

X laid there and listened to Zero's breathing even out, the stillness allowing him to hear the hum-thump of Zero's main core and the soft hiss of his coolant system as it worked to cool Zero's circuits and systems down from the over exertion. Eventually he succumbed to the soft sounds and drifted off, content with Zero in his arms.
